Using 2x12mm glass Mifare S50 NFC tags with NFC readers
This video explains how to get a reliable read with a 2x12mm glass NFC compatible RFID tag using a reader with a "flat plane" antenna loop. The antenna coil in the tag is arranged as a cylinder while the antenna coils of most readers are flatted out on a plane. Getting the small tags to energize and interact with these types of readers requires some trial and error, but it is possible to learn how to get a consistent read almost every time you present the tag to the reader.

1) When you first started experimenting with RFID implants it was for access key purposes. I've seen your TEDx talk and your excitement comes through, but did you have any fears about making the leap and doing the actual implant?
2) What was the reaction from your friends and family?
3) You've taken the next step and both written a book, and...

Customer performs x-series tag resilience test
At Dangerous Things we make implantable RFID and NFC tags. One of the commonly asked questions is something like "I do extreme sport XYZ, will your implantable RFID tag break if I do a 180+920+760+365 move?!". Well, one of our Dangerous Customer performed an impromptu resilience test using one of our implantable x-series chips, his own hand, and a nearby pen. Do not try this at home kids, though if you did you'd probably be perfectly fine.

We cooked an xIC implantable RFID tag...
In a previous video I successfully tested our implantable xIC tag with The Gun Box. Since I do not have an xIC implant, I tested by implanting it into a piece of raw chicken and using that as a human hand analogue. After the test was over, I decided it might be fun to just cook the piece of chicken at 375F with the tag still inside... you know, for science!

RFID and personal responsibility: Doctors, implants, and you
http://blog.amal.net This is a short random clip of me chatting on the phone with reporters about people getting their doctors to help them implant non-FDA approved RFID tags.
I get asked all the time about why it's so hard for DIYers to get doctors and/or piercers to implant RFID... this section of the conversation was strictly a broader commentary on the lack of personal responsibility in general.

Can you autoclave RFID tags?
http://blog.amal.net/?p=714 Everyone in the DIY RFID implant community is concerned with sterilization techniques. Several times people have asked me if they can autoclave their glass tag before implanting and I've always assumed you couldn't because of the high temperatures involved. However I hadn't tested it, and I hadn't heard of anyone testing it either, so I thought I'd give it a try. Surprise! They still worked!
